Procesy patří mezi základní konstrukty, které využíváme při libovolné úrovni řízení - od vlastního života, přes instituce a firmy, až po celé státy. Kniha popisuje principy procesů a způsoby jejich využití, a to jak v rovině obecné, tak se speciálním akcentem na oblast bezpečnosti. Tato oblast je specifická tím, že rozhodování obvykle probíhá za značné nejistoty a stresu, o to více je nutno mít jasně stanovená pravidla - k tomu mohou posloužit právě procesy.

Processes are among the basic constructs that we use at any level of management - from our own lives, through institutions and companies, to entire countries. The book describes the principles of processes and ways of using them, both in general and with a special emphasis on the area of security. This area is specific in that decision-making usually takes place under considerable uncertainty and stress, making it all the more necessary to have clearly defined rules - processes can serve this purpose.
