ANALÝZA JANA ŽELEZNÉHO | Zasedání ústředního výboru Komunistické strany Číny, tzv. čtvrtého pléna, nezní jako sexy událost, jež by přitáhla zraky široké veřejnosti. Českým čtenářům může evokovat spíše vzpomínky na minulý režim či husákovské projevy o stavu živočišné a rostlinné výroby, jež sice každoročně předčila očekávání, obchody však zely prázdnotou. Nechat však tento negativní sentiment dob minulých zvítězit v našem uvažování o světě by bylo chybou.

ANALYSIS BY JAN ŽELEZNÝ | A meeting of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China—the so-called Fourth Plenum—does not sound like a particularly exciting event that would capture the attention of the wider public. For Czech readers, it may instead evoke memories of the former regime or Husák-era speeches on the state of livestock and crop production, which year after year exceeded expectations while store shelves remained empty. Allowing this negative sentiment from past decades to shape our thinking about today’s world, however, would be a mistake.
